FAQ
Is Lucida free to use?
Yes! Lucida is free for personal use. Donations help keep development and hosting running.
What platforms are supported?
- Lucida runs in all modern browsers. For best performance use Chromium-based browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or Firefox. Safari is also supported but may have performance limitations.
- Tablets and touchscreens are fully supported. iPad works well — pinch to zoom, two-finger rotate, and all tools are touch-friendly.
- The app is designed for larger screens. On small phone screens some panels may be cramped.
Can I use Lucida offline or install it on my device?
Yes. Lucida is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — you can install it to your home screen and use it without an internet connection. In your browser, look for the "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" option. On iPad, this also gives you a true fullscreen experience without browser chrome.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes! Lucida processes all data locally in your browser. No images, videos, or personal data are ever uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.
What image formats are supported?
- Lucida supports all common image formats viewable in browsers like JPEG, PNG, BMP, WebP, etc.
- HEIC images (commonly created by iPhones and other Apple devices) by internally converting them to JPEG.
- For best quality, use high-resolution images in lossless formats like PNG when possible.
- Resolution is capped at 4K (3840px) on Basic and 8K (7680px) on Pro. Larger images are downscaled automatically.
Can I use a webcam or external camera?
- Yes! Lucida supports live input from webcams and external cameras connected to your computer.
- Make sure to grant camera access permissions when prompted by your browser.
- For best results, use high-quality cameras and ensure good lighting conditions.
- It is also possible to use mobile phones as cameras via apps that support webcam streaming. For example, you can use Continuity Camera on iOS or apps like DroidCam for Android devices.
- Lucida tries to select the highest resolution camera available. Make sure to configure your camera settings appropriately in your operating system or device and allow the highest possible resolution.
- We cap the video frequency to 120 FPS to optimize performance, so there is no benefit to using cameras with higher frame rates.
How many devices can I use my Pro license on?
